We provide many solutions for your dental care needs
Preventive Care
Routine Checkups
Routine Checkups should be done at least every 6 months. At these visits Dr. Rossen will do an oral cancer screening, check for tooth decay, check the health of your jaw joint, and screen for periodontal (gum) disease.
Cleanings
Depending on your dental history, Dr. Rossen and your hygienist will determine a regular cleaning schedule to fit your needs. It is usually every 6 months, but Dr. Rossen may recommend every 3-4 months if you have a history of periodontal disease.
Sealants
A dental sealant is an acrylic-like material that helps shield out decay-causing bacteria from the chewing surfaces of back teeth. The best time to apply them is when the six-year molars appear. Sealant material forms a protective barrier by bonding to the tooth surfaces and covering natural depressions and grooves in the teeth. More than 75% of dental decay begins in the depressions and grooves of the back teeth. Combined with proper home care and regular dental visits, sealants are extremely effective in preventing tooth decay.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by slowing the breakdown of enamel and speeding up the remineralization process. The new enamel crystals that form are harder, larger, and more resistant to acid.
Athletic Mouthguards
According to the American Dental Association, more than 200,000 oral injuries are prevented annually in this country by sports mouthguards. While this is an impressive figure, it is unfortunately estimated by the National Youth Sports Foundation that more than 5 million teeth will be knocked out in sporting activities this year. In fact, dental injuries are the most common type of orofacial injury sustained during participation in sports. Dental injuries could be significantly reduced if children, teenagers, and adults involved in the following sports wore custom fabricated mouthguards: basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, rollerblading, skateboarding, martial arts, boxing, hockey, kickboxing , mountain biking, and football.
Nightguards
Nightguards are used to treat people who grind or clench their teeth at night. People with nighttime grinding habits may wear away their tooth enamel “ten times faster” than people without harmful grinding habits. Eventually, your teeth may be worn down and destroyed. Treating bruxism and clenching is very cost effective compared to not treating the problem. The alternative is to replace or repair the patient’s damaged or destroyed teeth with fixed crowns, fixed bridges, or removable dentures.
Patient Education
Dr. Rossen and his team feel that it is their job to educate you so that you can make informed decisions about your dental health. At each checkup, Dr. Rossen and his team will educate you about any current or future needs you may have to help you make the best decision possible. We will always provide options to you about your dental care so you can decide what is best for you. We always welcome your questions!
Silent Nite® Snoring Prevention Device
Snoring research has shown that custom fabricated dental devices worn at night that move the lower jaw into a forward position, increase the three dimensional space in the airway tube which reduces air velocity and soft tissue vibration. By increasing the volumetric capacity of the airway and preventing soft tissue vibrations, snoring is eliminated. In clinical research studies, these dentist prescribed oral devices have exhibited initial snoring prevention success rates of between 70 to 100%.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Invisalign®
With our specialty Invisalign aligners, you can have your teeth straightened with nearly undetectable aligners. Some advantages to specialty braces over traditional metal braces are:
• Clear - Most people won’t even know you’re wearing them
• Comfortable - The plastic aligners are gentle in your mouth
• Removable - Take them out to eat, brush, or floss
• Hygienic - The smooth surfaces stay cleaner
• Affordable - In most cases, the cost is comparable to metal braces
• Fast - Get to a beautiful smile quickly
Six Month Smiles®
A revolutionary combination of proven orthodontic techniques, modern materials, and innovative thought - Six Month Smiles® utilizes specialized clear braces to gently straighten and align teeth in an average time of just six months.
Veneers / Lumineers®
Lumineers are custom-made tooth colored porcelain laminates designed to cover the front portion of your tooth and are generally recommended to improve the following dental conditions: Spaces between front teeth, cracked or chipped teeth, slightly crooked or poorly shaped teeth, permanently stained teeth, and worn teeth.
Lumineers are customized to match the color of your existing teeth—or you may choose to create a whiter smile by combining tooth whitening with your new veneers. Spaces between teeth can be closed, stains and cracks disappear! In many cases, you can have a great smile with perfectly straight teeth in a matter of weeks instead of the years required when straightening teeth with braces.
Bonding
Bonding is a technique where composite filling material is bonded to the front of a tooth. This material is shaped by Dr. Rossen at the dental chair. One advantage to composite bonding is that it only takes one appointment. A disadvantage to composite bonding is that it may discolor over time. Dr. Rossen uses the most recent cosmetic composite and polishing instruments to lessen the possibility of discoloration.
Custom Tray Whitening
Custom Tray Whitening is a great way to improve the overall appearance of your smile. This type of treatment involves wearing a custom-fitted plastic tray Dr. Rossen will design for you. Care is taken in creating the tray to ensure the whitening material stays in contact with tooth surfaces being treated. The duration of each whitening treatment and how long you continue at-home treatments will vary according to the results you wish to achieve. The result is a bright, white smile that creates a more youthful appearance!
Restorative Dentistry
Snap-On Smile®
Snap-On Smile is a patented, easy and painless way to obtain a beautiful smile. It was invented by a dentist who realized that not everyone can afford thousands of dollars to get a Hollywood smile make-over. After years of extensive research and development, your dentist can now provide you with a Snap-On Smile that is thin and strong with the look of natural teeth.
Tooth Colored Fillings
The process of applying the tooth colored filling is similar to a traditional amalgam(silver) filling. The decay is removed and the tooth is prepared to accept the tooth colored filling. The dentist then applies several layers of tooth colored filling material, which is chemically hardened and cured with a special light. The filling is then polished to complete the process. Tooth colored fillings blend with surrounding teeth and enhance a bright, youthful appearance. No one will notice they’re there-including you!
Bridges
A bridge is a custom device anchored to neighboring teeth that replaces one or more missing teeth. When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one must be prepared as crowns to serve as anchors to hold the prosthetic (replacement) teeth in place. Bridge treatment reverses the negative impact of missing teeth in a variety of ways: Restores and maintains the natural bite; Prevents unnatural stress on other teeth; Keeps opposing teeth in their proper place; Prevents shifting and tilting of adjacent teeth; Discourages further dental decay and periodontal disease; Enhances your smile, speech, and chewing function.
Extractions
We make every effort to help you keep your teeth, but occasionally, an extraction is the only option available. Sometimes a specialist is required to do an extraction.
Dentures
We offer natural looking dentures and partials to fit your needs. The process takes several appointments. Your dentures are shaped to look like natural healthy tissue making them comfortable and easy to clean. You’ll find your new dentures to be the most lifelike and natural dentures you’ve ever had.
Periodontal Therapy
Periodontal disease damages the gums and reduces their ability to protect vulnerable areas. It is the single most common cause of tooth loss in adults. Signs of gum disease include: Gums that bleed when you brush or floss your teeth; Red, swollen or tender gums; Gums that recede or gums that shrink away from your teeth; Pus between your teeth; Pain when chewing; Calculus or tartar build-up; Changes in bite; Loose teeth; Bad breath or chronic bad taste; Teeth sensitivity to hot and cold.
We know from recent studies that an estimated 75 percent of American adults over the age of 35 have some form of periodontal disease. Until its advanced stage, periodontal disease is usually painless. Talk to us if you have concerns about the connection between gum disease and your overall health. We’ll take special care with your oral health needs and if necessary, refer you to a periodontist who specializes in gum disease.
Implants
Dental Implants provide a look and feel that’s very close to natural teeth. Implants are metal posts or frames surgically placed beneath your gums by a specialist. After placement, the implants fuse to the bone of your jaw and act as artificial tooth roots. Replacement teeth are attached to the implant by Dr. Rossen. Since bone holds the implant in place, you have a natural looking tooth that will function much like your original tooth.
Braces
Traditional metal braces are a system of brackets that are bonded to your teeth and hold interconnecting wires. The wires used today, made of a nickel-titanium, are generally thinner and more resilient than those used in previous years, shortening treatment time and improving overall comfort. Over time, the steady, gentle pressure applied to the teeth helps move them into the correct position. With metal braces, you don’t have to worry about keeping up with anything that is removable. Dr. Rossen can help you decide which type of treatment is best for you.
Expansion Appliances
Some patients need an expansion appliance before they are ready for braces. Dr. Rossen can do an exam and recommend the best plan of treatment for your individual needs.
Root Canals
Root canals treat disorders of the nerve of the tooth. It used to be that a tooth with a diseased or infected nerve had to be removed. In 95 percent of the cases today, however, this is no longer true. The following are the most common factors contributing to a need for root canal treatment: Trauma, such as a physical blow to a tooth or a constant striking of a tooth in the opposite jaw that traumatizes the tooth; Physical irritation caused by a deep decay or a very large filling; Severe gum disease.
Crowns
A crown is a tooth-like covering placed over a carefully prepared existing tooth. Used to strengthen, restore, or improve the appearance of your natural tooth, a crown is placed on an individual tooth much like a thimble over your finger. Crowns serve many functions. One of the most common is to support the tooth when there is no longer sufficient tooth structure left to place a filling. Crowns may also be used to protect the structure of a tooth that is fractured or broken.
